International Congress on Domestic Animal Breeding Genetics and Husbandry - 2020
ICABGEH - 20
Izmir, TURKEY (Online) - August 12 - 14, 2020
The International Congress on Domestic Animal Breeding Genetics and Husbandry - 2020 (ICABGEH-20) congress is organized by the Agricultural Faculty of Ondokuz Mayıs University and the Turkish Agricultural Engineers Association. ICABGEH-20 is the fourth international event of meeting series with participation of very popular invited speakers Dr. Maria DATTENA (AGRIS Sardegna), Dr. Roswanira Abdul WAHAB (Universiti Teknologi Malaysia), Dr. Abdul CHAUDHRY (Newcastle University) and Dr. Zeynel CEBECI (Cukurova University). This event has brought together leading researchers, engineers and scientists in the domain of interest from around the world. It also provides opportunities for the delegates to exchange new ideas and application experiences as online, to establish business or research relations and to find global partners for future collaboration.
The organizing committee is seriously planning and is already working towards enabling the international animal science scientific community to meet the challenges and to move safely and successfully into the advanced information era. To this end, ICABGEH-20 has been focused on recent developments, as far as research on animal science aiming at protecting the environment and food safety. Thus, ICABGEH-2020 has achieved its main twofold objective: Firstly, the presentation of current research works in the field of animal science, and secondly, connecting the animal science community.
Prof. Dr. Hasan ÖNDER,
Congress President
Dr. Maria DATTENA
Dr. Maria Dattena Degree in Veterinary Medicine at the University of Sassari (1982), Postgraduate Diploma and Master Philosophy at the Department of Animal Science of Massey University in Palmerston North (New Zealand). In 1997 she won the competition for research officer at AGRIS (Sardinia Agency for research in Agriculture). In 2001 she was appointed Coordinator of the Animal Reproduction Department of Agris up today. She is the author of over 140 scientific and technical publications on problems concerning: reproductive biotechnologies, in vitro embryos production; freezing and vitrification of embryos and spermatozoa; reproductive techniques concerning artificial fertilization, heat synchronization, superovulation for the production of embryos and their transfer. Production and isolation of embryonic and mesenchymal stem cells; In the last 10 years, in collaboration with the Sardinian Farmers Association, she has been carrying out updating activities for breeders, focusing her attention on breeding systems related to reproduction, management of the periods of childbirth, breeding and the use of the "male effect". Artificial insemination without the use of hormones. She has been a referee for national and international journals. She has participated in numerous national and international conferences as a speaker, invited speaker, and moderator. She has carried out teaching activities in the context of training courses for technicians operating in the sheep and goat fields. She has worked as a tutor for graduate students who have carried out research at the Agris to obtain the title of Doctor of Research (Ph.D.). She has participated as a researcher or coordinator, in working groups involved in research and development projects: regional, national and international. Since 2005 she is recognized as an expert in sheep breeding by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) ONU. From this Agency based in Vienna, she has been invited several times to Tunisia to do seminars at the University of Tunis and training centers for breeders. For the same agency, over the years she has welcomed Middle Eastern students and technicians (Yemen, Jordan, Syria, Tunisia, and Morocco) at Agris for short periods of training.
Dr. Roswanira Abdul WAHAB
Dr. Roswanira Abdul WAHAB currently works at Universiti Teknologi Malaysia, Johore, Malaysia as a Senior Lecturer. She worked as a research assistant at the Department of Chemistry, Faculty of Science, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia, Skudai, Johor between 1997 – 1998, then she worked as a research assistant at the University of Leicester, the United Kingdom between 1998 – 2000, then she worked as a tutor at the Department of Chemistry, Faculty of Science, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia, Skudai, Johor in 2005, then she worked as a lecturer at the Department of Chemistry, Faculty of Science, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia, Skudai, Johor, between 2006-2011. Her research interests are mainly focused on enzyme technology and biomass engineering. Hence, the studies done so far in this research group have been multidisciplinary, a melting-pot of biotechnology, protein chemistry, physical chemistry, and bioinformatics. Her research work is focused on enzymes such as lipases, β-glucosidases, and cellulases, whereby all works on these enzymes complement current projects on biomass engineering. She has envisioned that the abundant Malaysian oil palm agricultural wastes could potentially be turned into value-added products while simultaneously minimizing unwanted passive dumping of such wastes. Another interest of her is working on developing green fingerprint visualization technology using biotechnological-based novel methods. The protocol for visualizing fingerprints for forensic applications recently developed the is now undergoing the process of the patent application, awaiting endorsement by the Faculty. Although the method proposed recently is still in its infancy, the results have been encouraging and even surpass current techniques used by forensic experts. Most importantly, the protocol proposed in her work is considerably safer and probably more cost-effective. Her research resulted in over 180 journal articles and several books and according to Google Scholar, her total citations are 2054.
Dr. Abdul CHAUDHRY
Dr. Abdul Shakoor Chaudhry has conducted research, teaching, and engagement at the universities of Newcastle, Queensland, Bristol, Cambridge, and Faisalabad. He has initiated, managed, and completed numerous research and training projects. These projects were funded by different Feed and Biotechnology companies, National & International Governments, Charitable trusts, Research Bodies, World (Asian) and Islamic Development Banks and Universities, etc. His research has mainly focused on the role of foods in either sustaining or improving animal performance in various situations. Dr. Chaudhry was able to develop non-invasive Bio-Molecular methods to test the quality of animal foods in supplying essential nutrients to various animals at different stages of their growth and development. Dietary manipulation to reduce pollution from farm animals has also been a vital area of his research. He has coordinated 2 International training programs in Australia (1996-98) and 3 Higher Education Links here at Newcastle (2002-5 & 2007-10). Moreover, he leads British Council & HEC funded INSPIRE and TNE projects jointly with colleagues at GCUF (2011-18). Recently, his research with 'spices to modify methane' has received huge media attention. His invited interviews with CNN's Connect the World, BBC Look North, many BBC radios, New Zealand radio, and many prints and electronic papers are a few examples of the impact of his research. Search the INTERNET for 'sheep and spices' to view 100's news items as a reflection of the societal & sustainable relevance of his research for the UK and worldwide.
