IX. International Congress on Domestic Animal Breeding Genetics and Husbandry - 2025 (ICABGEH - 25)
September 02 - 04, 2025, Szeged (Hódmezővásárhely) - HUNGARY
The International Congress on Domestic Animal Breeding, Genetics and Husbandry-2025 (ICABGEH-25) was held on September 02 - 04, 2025, at the University of Szeged, Faculty of Agriculture, Hódmezővásárhely - HUNGARY. The ICABGEH-25 was a hybrid event comprising both physical and virtual conferences. The ICABGEH-25 was organized by Ondokuz Mayıs University, University of Szeged and Kahramanmaras Sutcu Imam University.
ICABGEH-25 was the ninth event of the international meeting series with the participation of very popular invited speakers Prof. Dr. Adolfo PAZ-SILVA (University of Santiago de Compostela, Spain), Prof. Dr. Stayka LALEVA (Agricultural Academy, Agricultural Institute - Stara Zagora, Bulgaria), Prof. Dr. Adem KAMALAK (Kahramanmaras Sütcü Imam University, Türkiye), and Prof. Dr. Thobela Louis TYASI (University of Limpopo, South Africa). This event brought together leading researchers, engineers, and scientists in the domain of interest worldwide. It also provided opportunities for the delegates to exchange new ideas and application experiences face to face and virtually, to establish business or research relations, and to find global partners for future collaboration.
Numerous scientists from universities and research centers across many countries attended the meeting. Ninety-two participants from 19 countries participated physically and online, presenting 80 oral presentations and 14 posters. I would like to sincerely thank these valued participants for their trust in us by attending the congress in Hódmezővásárhely, HUNGARY.
The organizing committee has thoughtfully planned and worked towards enabling the international animal science community to meet the challenges and to move safely and successfully into the advanced information era. To this end, ICABGEH-25 has been focused on recent developments, such as research on animal science aiming at protecting the environment and food safety. Thus, ICABGEH-2025 achieved its two-fold objective: First, the presentation of current research works in the field of animal science, and second, connecting the animal science community.
Prof. Dr. Hasan ÖNDER,
Congress President

Prof. Dr. Adolfo PAZ-SILVA (University of Santiago de Compostela, Spain)
Prof. Dr. Adolfo Paz-Silva is a staff member in the Department of Animal Pathology at the Faculty of Veterinary Sciences, University of Santiago de Compostela, Spain, and coordinator of the COPAR research group (“Control of Parasites in Animals and People: Detection, Prevention, and Treatment”). He earned his PhD at the same university in 1997 with a dissertation on enzymatic and immune responses in rats infected with Fasciola hepatica and the development of immunoenzymatic diagnostic techniques. To date, he has published more than 50 articles and has over 200 citations. His research focuses on parasitic diseases of animals and their zoonotic implications, with particular expertise in immunodiagnostics (ELISA, proteomics), epidemiological surveillance of vectors, and sustainable strategies for parasite control, including the use of saprophytic fungi. With a strong One Health perspective, he works at the interface of animal health, public health, and the environment, collaborating with veterinary and public health authorities to promote rational use of antiparasitics and preventive measures. In addition to research leadership, Prof. Paz-Silva teaches Zoonoses and Public Health in the Veterinary program and actively contributes to the training of veterinarians, parasitologists, and researchers through interdisciplinary projects and academic service.
Prof. Dr. Stayka LALEVA (Agricultural Academy, Agricultural Institute - Stara Zagora, Bulgaria)
Prof. Dr. Stayka Laleva is a leading researcher in sheep and goat breeding at the Agricultural Institute – Stara Zagora, Agricultural Academy, Bulgaria, and serves as Director of the Institute. She has published multiple studies on genetic parameters and productive traits in sheep (e.g., heritability, repeatability, fecundity, live weight), as well as applied research into nutrition, feed digestibility, and probiotic/prebiotic supplementation in lambs. Examples include “Genetic parameters of productive traits in Mouton Charollais sheep” and Precision livestock farming: essence and application in large and small ruminants. She is a member of the scientific board for animal husbandry and serves on editorial teams such as the Bulgarian Journal of Agricultural Science. Her work combines traditional animal breeding with modern technologies (digitalization, feed additives, in vitro rumen fluid analyses) toward improving livestock productivity, sustainability, and animal welfare.
Prof. Dr. Adem KAMALAK (Kahramanmaras Sütcü Imam University, Türkiye)
Prof. Dr. Adem KAMALAK has a bachelor's degree from Ankara University in Türkiye. He has a master’s and a PhD degree in Animal Nutrition from Newcastle University in the UK. He is an expert on alternative feedstuffs for ruminant animals. He and his colleagues have a patent for an additive used in ensiling of alfalfa plants to improve the silage quality. Dr. Adem KAMALAK has made a great contribution in providing information about some of the alternative feedstuffs used in ruminant diets. Last year, He and his colleagues started a new project in which they screened the tree and shrub leaves in terms of antimethanogenic potential to mitigate the enteric methane production during the fermentation. They have already found out some trees and shrubs that have high anti-methanogenic potential. He has published more than 100 articles in leading refereed academic journals in animal nutrition. He has more than 1500 citations.
Prof. Dr. Thobela Louis TYASI (University of Limpopo, South Africa)
Prof. Dr. Thobela Louis Tyasi is a staff member in the Department of Agricultural Economics and Animal Production at the University of Limpopo, South Africa, where he is also an NRF C2-Rated Researcher and participant in the Future Professors Programme. His expertise lies in animal breeding and genetics, applied statistics, data mining / artificial intelligence algorithms, bioinformatics, characterization of animal genetic resources, and the development of breeding programs appropriate for communal and adverse environments. Professor Tyasi has authored ≈ 145 articles (journal + local + international), 27 conference proceedings, and 3 book chapters; mentors numerous students, including Honours, Master's, and PhD levels. He has served in many studies involving morphometric and biometric trait analysis in sheep, goats, and cattle (e.g., using trait-body weight prediction, path analysis, multivariate regression, PCA, CART, MARS models), and has been recognized by the South African Society for Animal Science (SASAS) with its Mid-Career Silver Medal for his original contributions to animal production research.
